Redeeming a Country

Yom Kippur’s over, fasting is over, and the prayers for a good and righteous year are over. We prayed for ourselves, our people, and our country. It looks like my cat answered my prayers, but not my government. It’s time for our country to redeem itself.The Wraith Queen The Wraith Queen

My cat Lucy was the kitty from hell. Her claws came out if you passed her while she was napping and her claws came out if she was sitting on your lap. She hissed if we didn’t feed her on time and hissed when she was full. We nicknamed her the Wraith Queen and even made up a special song. Suddenly, over the last couple of weeks, she turned docile. I asked my husband if he thought it was possible that she was communicating with another wavelength and understands that she has to change. G-d loves all his creatures and wants the best for her too.

Our government, on the other hand, hasn’t changed its belligerence one iota. Now it doesn’t even appear to care about the welfare of its citizens.Ebola? Our president sends more than 3000 military personnel to “fight” it. Perhaps he thinks he can drop medicine from drones on the germs. Ebola has been welcomed into the country because the president has refused to stop flights from West African countries. He did make sure to stop flights to Israel for “protection.” The fighting was 25 kms away Flights to very dangerous hotspots like Syria and Yemen were continued.. When the prime minister of Israel was asked to send military help to fight ebola he said he couldn’t risk the welfare of his country. Citizens concerned about illegals coming in with diseases that haven’t been seen in the USA for decades like TB.are called racists. Meanwhile, it looks like the children dying or paralyzed live in states where illegal children were transported to live.( see map below HT the Last Refuge) So what can we make of these horrible and irrational decisions of our government officials?

When my grandparents came here in the late 1800’s each person was examined on Ellis Island and if there was a problem that person was sent back. My great grandfather was sent back and then had to reenter after his eye problem was resolved. Now one can be sick, illegal,or a criminal because none of it matters to our government. So one has to ask if this is being done puposefully to destroy our country. When a traitorous deserter, Bergdahl, is swapped for five big name terrorists,who will most likely return to the battlefield to maim and murder more :infidels, while a Marine sits in a Mexican jail for a wrong turn, one has to wonder. To top off this whole chaotic mess, Barack Hussein Obama sends a thank you note to the imam of the mosque of the latest Islamic killer, “Your service is a powerful example of the powerful roots of the Abrahamic faiths and how our communities can come together with shared peace with dignity and a sense of justice.” Isn’t it odd that note was sent now for some help given during a tornado last year?”
Personally I believe our government, which includes all the bureaucrats who believe they’re above the law, should take a lesson from our cat Lucy. As the news becomes more and rmore appalling, many people find comfort in their religions’ Scriptures. For Jews it’s Torah. During this time before Rosh Ha Shana, Deverim, or Deuteronomy is read in synagogues all over the world. It retells Moses’ farewell to the Hebrews admonishing them to remember.         Throughout Devarim, Moses warns the people – no less than fourteen times – not to forget.

If they forget the past they will lose their identity and
sense of direction and disaster will follow. Moreover, not only are the people commanded to remember, they are also commanded to hand that memory on to their children.

Think about that. Why would Moses have to tell his people to remember? Isn’t memory natural? Maybe, for human beings, it’s too easy to forget. Maybe, we want to forget disastrous actions or choices. Maybe, he wanted to remind the Hebrews that we will keep making the same kind of mistakes if we don’t remember what happened before.

I listen to radio pundits and read many different websites and  everyone appears to be missing some salient facts that we should remember. One of those is that our president Barack Hussein Obama had a Muslim biological father and spent his formative years in a Muslim country with a Muslim stepfather. These are facts that are written in his autobiography. We know that at one time his name was Barry Soetoro. We don’t know when he changed it. We know that he thinks that the Muslim call to prayer is “one of the prettiest sounds he ever heard.” and that during his first inaugeration speech he said that this is “a nation of Christians and Musliims, Jewish  and Hindus and non- believers.” I remember hearing that and almost fell off my chair because this was after 9/11, the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, Yemin, Rwanda, the massacre of our marines in Lebanon, and on and on.Even conservative pundits are on the band wagon singing that our president’s bored or incompetant.

Every excuse is made except the FACTS. The facts are these, just as Judaism is transmitted through the mother, Islam is transmitted through the father. There is no personal choice. If a person chooses to leave the religion of one’s father he is an apostate and sentenced to die, just like Miriam Ibrahim. These are facts we must remember when our president makes decisions that appear to be against the welfare of the United States. Just as Moses admonished his people we must remember or disaster will follow.
