On Friday August 8th Florida governor Rick Scott met with the Executive Board of the Jewish Republican Club of Broward County, a small group of Jewish leaders and respected rabbis. During the meeting a number of attendees expressed security concerns, the governor unfortunately showed no concerns at all. On August 9th Rabbi Raskin, may G-d avenge his blood, was murdered on his way to synagogue. The irony is blatantly obvious. Be afraid: be very afraid.
The meeting between the governor and this select group was planned by the governor’s office . It was promoted as a venue in which the governor would answer any questions concerning our community. The only questions asked by the participants were related to security but the honorable governor smoothly evaded answering each one.
One rabbi, head of a school asked about needing added security. A none answer came from the governor about more police One woman advocate asked about the onerous Muslim presence on state university campuses. This time he promoted the acquisition of a Technion partnership with Florida. The last question couldn’t have been clearer. “Why is CAIR, an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holyland Terror Trial, even allowed to walk through the doors of our government offices?” The answer, once again, was evasion.
The next day, on the way to synagogue, Rabbi Raskin, was murdered. It was in the same neighborhood as the hate filled graffiti smeared on the synagogue last week. The Allowing Anti-Defamation League or ADL quickly announced:
“At this time, it appears to be a robbery that went badly. Currently no evidence has been brought to light that it was motivated by anti-Semitism.” Really, Ms. Holzhauer? In the mean time, the rest of us have learned not to trust the government to protect us. It also appears that an organization formed “to stop the defamation of the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment to all.” isn’t too keen on standing up for the Jews. It looks like a lot of wasted tzedaka. Be afraid, be very afraid and cling tightly to G-d and your guns.
